Went to non-RFTs today
After two sets of RFTs, the Bridgestones from the factory and Michelins after, it was time for change after frustrating experiences with both sets.
Bridgestones lasted about 13k miles, but I am lowered with Eibachs and maxed-out negative camber. The Bridgestones handled better than the Michelins, but the NVH was not as good. Michelins also lasted about 13k miles which surprised me because the treadwear rating is higher (220 vs. 140). To be honest, the fronts had some tread left, but the rears were both toast. Michelins were quieter and rode smoother than the Bridgestones, but they had a weird feel on initial turn-in where the rear would squat a bit more before taking a set. Now with Bridgestone Potenza RE760s, I will never go back to RFTs. Ride quality is significantly improved, and when you have a lowered E93, this means less rattles. The car also doesn't hop on uneven pavement when in a turn. Also saved $1000. Will not be able to judge handling until the tires are broken in, but initial turn-in is sharper and more "natural" feeling. I have a ContiComfortKit on backorder with the TireRack, who I also ordered the tires from and shipped to my installer. Service was excellent, and I highly recommend my installer in Huntington Beach, Shoreline Motoring. Porsche, does not use RFTs while also do not providing a spare tire in their Carreras/Boxsters/Caymans which tells me they don't think RFTs are an answer for the "ultimate" handling. I have to agree.

you will love them. btw ContiComfortKit will destroy your tire sensor. I dont know whats cheaper, a new sensor or a full size spare and jack. I ended up getting a 17inch rim ($99.00) from tirerack and an extra conventional conti DWS ($115.00) when I switched from RFT's. I carry the full size spare and bought a bmw jack and tire wrench from Ebay for 70.00

i have taken off my Rft tires for 2 years now. Got Nitto 555 extreme tires installed, they are working great with my original tpm's. ride quality a lot better than rfts. They are a little noisy but saved me more than 1k and tread is still more than half.
my next tires will be the new line they intriduced, its called Invo. it is a better tire take a look http://www.nittotire.com/index.html since there is no spare in my car i ride with air compressor+plug kit and jack in the trunk. instead of waiting for help.
