335i- TEST PIPE, EXHUAST, TURBO
I thought this title might grab some peoples attention.
I'm just wondering if people who own 335's would be willing to buy test pipes. I am looking into building a test pipe and then producing a compatable computer program to get rid of any CEL's that may come on due to the O2 censors. If you don't know what a test pipe does, it eliminates the catalytic converter and you will gain large amounts of HP and TQ from this very simple and CHEAP modification!!!!!!!!! (Price ranging from 150~300, somewhere in that ball park) It would go perfect with a nice aftermarket exhaust, but would also work with a stock exhaust, still producing large amounts of excess TQ and HP. Tell me what you guys think???? |

From the diagrams in the sticky in this forum, it does appear that the 335 only has one set of O2 sensors at the top of the down pipe, located before the cats. This will hopefully prevent codes in the computer caused by deleting the cats.
I was wondering, does anyone have an idea how much extra power a down pipe without the cats would make? Thanks |

However, the answer summed up is "only if BMW can directly prove that it caused harm to the part in question".

No the ECU would not need to be tunned to get the added HP and TQ, reason I said anything about the chip was because i thought there were O2 censors after the cat........

well extra tuning might be required to take advantage of extra HP
but tuning wont be required for any CEL's since you wont throw any. I am currently working with a company on making some...but the more the better! |

it doesnt have to do with any thing really since it wont trigger any CEL's or cause any damage at all. usualy they will only void warranty on mods that will effect the car |

When I get my hands on the E92, testpipes are definitely in my future. If there are o2 sensors in the cats though, all you would need to do is a mechanical o2 fix, which is like a spacer made of sparkplug nonfoulers. I have run them on many cars without any CEL's, and I would assume that the same could be done with the 335. I don't think there is any need for a computer program.
