Bastuck axelback + Catless 3" DP owners, please report in

just wondering if you guys have any drone with catless dps and the stock midpipes on this axelback exhaust.

drone to a point where there is enough resonation in the cabin to make the rear console pieces buzz. i ask this because i have been reading many people's opinions on the bastuck axelback over the past few months, and it seems to be one of the most drone free exhausts.

i have a drone problem with this setup, but i'm not sure if it's normal, or if i should waste my local mechanic's time to put the car on the lift to look for leaks or contact points causing vibration. the exhaust note seems so much quieter and more pleasant once i reach 3k

edit: lastly, if it matters, i have an e92. it also seems to be fine with the windows down, but that may just be outside noises drowning it out

I had perfect sound and no drone with this setup. The rear console vibrates because is badly designed. Put a towel in there and it will stop vibrating.

i was actually going to send you a PM. was searching through threads and you seem to be the only one with this setup

i put two tennis balls in that thing and it stopped the vibrations somewhat, but they're still faintly present under high throttle in 4th gear or higher(AT) and sometimes third.

and i also get that somewhat loud MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM sound in the cabin in every gear aside from first (since it's so short).

only happens somewhere between 1500 and 2300ish under load

exhaust sounds magical from the outside though.

when you say you have perfect sound, it makes me wonder if i have a problem with the exhaust making contact somewhere.

I dont have that setup anymore but i can assure that what you are complaining about now is nothing in comparaison to removing the oem midpipes... Thats drone. I am putting in high flow cats now in the midpipes.
You cold put som vibrant resonators in the midpipes .

Sorry for being redundant, but do you recall if this setup had a seemingly linear sound output through the rpm ranges or did cabin resonance spike at lower RPMs? I'm getting mixed reports as to whether or not resonators will fix my drone. I also don't want to lose my top end sound output

As far as i remember the low rpm spike was there but very very subtle. I guess it depends how sensitive you are.

i don't understand why there would be a difference, assuming one is using manual shift mode in the AT.

AT has shorter gearing too

I have 2.5" catless pipes with stock midpipes and Bastuck Quad. Rear consoles vibrates between 1900 - 2100, depending on how much throttle I'm giving it. No interior drone, just a little rear console vibration, but I have the MT. I've been in other 335i w/ just axle back and the rear console vibration was way worse.
