Replica 193M Rims
Hi,
Anyone have any experience with St George Tyre's in Sydney and the quality of their replica BMW rims ? I have hit a pothole and damaged my front 193M rim. A `genuine` BMW replacement from Aus is out of the question at just under a $A 1K. I know I could look at replacing all the rims but as my car only has 8000 km I was hoping to get a little more mileage and at least wear out the run-flats first. Cheers... |

I would say try importing a replacement rim from overseas, even with air freight would be much less then here. Don't think you can mix OEM and replica rims since I thought the OEM ones are built heavier for runflats and the replica ones can't take runflats, but I could be wrong.

If you have damaged your rim then a good chance you have also damaged your tyre. Do you have a bubble in the the side wall of the tyre? If so, you might as well get rid of that as well.
I dont think the replica rims have the right grove on ther inside for run flats (EH2 ??) either. |

also if your car which implies the rims are <2 years old you could possibly ask for BMW parts warranty to cover that?

Seems a bit strange to replace one rim because they won't be exactly the same. I think the spokes look a bit different and the colour is unlikely to match exactly. IMO, much better to stay with genuine BMW rims.
I suggest to call around some of the tyre shops to ask if they can get a second hand rim at an acceptable price. BMW might be able to give you a slightly better price on a new one if you ask nicely. maybe worth a try.. |

pot hole damage should be covered either under your insurance, or the local council / main roads insurance!
Suggest you get photos of the damage and the pot hole ASAP and contact the appropriate body (starting with the council)
