http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/t...207-1aj0j.html

Offcourse if you're in the US this would read as 40K I guess.

Actually 39,900K USD in BMW marketing speak though won't be surprised to see a 39,999.99 like at Coles and Woolies..is listed as 99,900AUD here

Not sure if that is really good value or not. By the time it is OTR my guess is that it will be circa $125 at least. If it had a M motor it would be worth it. What is a standard 135i sport in comparison?

I was told it will be AUD113,000 drive away... not a cent in discount.

Full price for a 135i manual with the $8K of extras and 19" wheel/tyre upgrade would be in the order of, what, $85-$86K.

Quaife, suspension upgrades and a tune would bring it to mid-$90s. 1M has still more unique bits and presumably better resale than a modded 135i to offset the standard car's potential for discount.

I'm seriously tempted but need a drive - anyone discussed that possibility with a dealer?

I was told $114K for metallic (Valencia) with comfort access so guess that put standard Alpine White with no options at about $112K ? Only 107 coming into the country so should definately have better resale than a 135i. Still, I just can't get my head around a 1er priced at over $100K .....

John, don't fancy your chances for a test drive. According to my dealer deliveries will be "some time between June and December" and most have already been allocated.

IMO you'd be better off with a 2-3YO M3

Maybe the 1M would be a less expensive car to maintain. I heard that parts for M3 can be expensive. In the case of used M3, I hope it will never need any major work on the engine or DCT transmission.

Doubt it will be cheaper to maintain in the sense of consumable parts. M3 parts are significantly more expensive than normal bmw parts. For example, i recently purchased a pair of genuine front rotors for my E92 325i for $188USD whereas the E92 M3 pair of front rotors from the same vendor were close to $650USD...

Will be interesting to see if they recommend a different oil to the N54 or different service intervals.....

Meh, standard car dealer marketing speak, right before they fail to sell any and it gets discounted.

Every new model of Falcon or Commodore will supposedly "walk off the floor" with no discounts.

BMW are not limited by production capacity, there is no reason for this vehicle to be in short supply. Ask for a discount. Esp when the AUD is so high. 100k+orc is a blatant rip-off. Maserati, Ferrari, Bugatti are limited by production capacity and can charge list price. BMW is not Ferrari.

Meanwhile remember it was only about 2 years ago when BMW Australia came out in the press to say that "Audi is not a competitor to BMW". 'Nuff said about general BMW Australia clue levels.

Upon telling the dealer that I am due to get married this year he said the M3 sedans have been extremely sought after and selling well i can do a deal for around 190K.

I was looking at another brand whose hero car is in apparent short supply yesterday. One minute they are like hens teeth, all pre-sold, no discounts then as I am leaving, in no hurry, they have one for sale, one coming in shortly, and they can look after me re price.

Likewise a second hand M3 I checked out a little while back (not at BMW). Allegedly priced to sell, not even washed as it would just walk out the door. Couldn't even find me the advertised full history, let alone any receipts but told me not to worry as they could always get the book stamped for me. Still on the market.
