Whilst the procede shouldn't make any difference, I would be doing the same as SBC suggested, removing it quick smart.. JIC!

Hard to do it without tools on the side of the road in a suit.
At least the tv still works.
First service guy sprayed some fuel in and on cranking it fired, so it is the pump

I have been complaining of long cranks for the past few months.
Also had rough idle, but the dealer said it wasnt the HPFP.
Anyway three hours later I am back home.
It took us 1/2 an hour to work out how to ger it into neutral.

There is a campaign for N54's in Aus according to my $tealership person, owners should get a letter.

Involves a software update, failing that a new HPFP and depending on the part numbers in your car new injectors & coils as well.

Anyone know what years are most affected and to what extent. I assume it isn't affecting 335i LCIs as they don't use the N54, but for all the other production years, is it the same issue, or were different parts used throughout the years? My 335i was built late in 09 so was one of the last ones before the LCIs went into production. I haven't had any issues but only have done 9k.

My car was also built in 09, and I've had a pump replaced already. It definitely affects us.

well reading this article it reckons the us recall was for 07-10 production vehicles
http://blogs.wsj.com/drivers-seat/20...ix-fuel-pumps/

so don't know how far the issue extends...

N55's have been known to suffer the same issues, some with less than 1000 miles in the US. So it seams to be a lottery

I did some price shopping today, in case I have to replace items without any warranty coverage through the BMW campaign.

Injectors $107 USD from GetBMWparts.com versus $366.38 in AUS from Northshore BMW. Coils $45 USD vs $89.50 locally. HPFP is $262 USD, did not ask for a local price.

So a substantial saving my importing them myself, just need to allow the freight transit time.

Ah, so we are not talking thousands then. I wasn't sure.

When I went past the dealer this morning, the car hadn't arrived.
The Service manager did say that it was likely to be the pump as it is a common fault with these cars. (just like the fact that they had 2.5 deg neg camber on the rear, which is why my rear tyres are nearly wasted).

Anyway I saw another guy from the service team as I was walking home from work (that's how I get around, if I can't borrow a car and don't know which bus to catch) who lives a few door up from me. He said that my car had arrived and all the electronics were out. (Hello ProCede!)

Wait, they found your PROcede?

And surely they must give you a loan car for warranty work. Having to WALK is bullshit.

Seems like it was the camshaft sensor. They changed it and then it started OK.
Now they are having trouble re-programming it, so I wonder if the Procede is the cause of that?

At least it wasn't the HPFP.

They will not be able to program your car with Canclear set to "1" or on. Procede needs to be in valet mode with Canclear set to "0" / off to allow software update to occur.
