Getting into higher mileage
Now that enough people have been putting lots of miles on the AWD system, are there any consistant complaints, issues, or annoyances? And while I'm asking, what about the rest of the car when there is more than 60k miles?

I'm just popping over to 70k and I haven't had any problems with the x drive yet (knock on wood).
when the weather gets a bit better I'm probably going to change my differential fluid and transmission fluid and hope things stay the way they have been, CrIsPy!! |

Sorry not trying to thread jack but.... I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has had any problems with transfer case running staggered setups? Most people say they don't have problems short term, but what about people that have been running staggered for 50k miles for example.

One of the reasons I went with xDrive in a BMW (as opposed to an Audi) was for years I'd wanted an e30 325ix as a winter beater. Then as a collector car. I kept watching prices and so forth but what was amazing was the mileage they racked up year after year. Routinely see them in very decent shape with 200k+ miles. Now those things are near legendary cult cars, at least up in the mountains. Anyway BMW knows how to design a long lasting AWD system, will just have to see how that works out on my 2009 e92 car, if I keep it that long.

07 with 106k with about 8k on a staggered set up and nothing wrong at all. Just did tranny fluid last summer and she still runs like a champ. No problems what so ever

That's good to hear.
What about a rear LSD, does anyone sell one for these AWD cars? |

From what I've been told by a German car mechanic, Audi's Quattro, and BMW's x drive system are about the best out there. Quattro is some 30 years and still going strong.

I have to be honest that I took car and driver's recommendation of the 330xi over the a4 and s4 due to much better handling characteristics. For years I never knew about bmw's x systems.

What I meant to ask is that I'd like to hear more about what he "knew" about BMW's AWD system. I've read some info on various sites but it's mostly BMW issued data or someone explaining it's functionality. I'd like to hear what people have to say about it and their experiences.
