Procede boost fluctuation

While driving tonight my car started having the boost go from 2-17psi it was all over the place. Shortly after I got a half check engine light??? WTF. Also I could hear the wastegates clicking a lot. About 5 more mins of driving that car is back to normal......any ideas???

I'm running the 1-21 maps you sent me with my unit. On install I got a really hard start with a half check engine light. The car reset itself and was perfect. That was Friday night.

It's not terribly abnormal to get a hard start/engine light upon installation since often the DME doesn't fully go to sleep before it is unplugged. The boost oscillation thing is something else I think. I've seen it reported once before but I have not been able to recreate it. If it happens again, can you switch to valet mode (map0) and see if the problem persists? That will tell me where to look if it is indeed a traceable problem.

Doesn't really help without a datalog to go with it unfortunately.

I'll buy a longer cable in the morning and try to make some logs.

Good.. that will help diagnose. Please make sure you include Boost Control Setpoing and Boost Control DC in the datalog.

Map 1 and map 2 are only making 2psi at most now. Map 0 has boost fluctuation. Would the wastegate compensation have anything to do with anything? At idle I can hear the wastegates click alot. But only on map 1 and 2.

Max allowable boost is 16psi. Don't worry though.. that 17psi reading on the Procede boost display read from the intercooler pipe, in FRONT of the throttle body. It is being caused by throttle closures, not from actually running high boost. Actual boost is probably below 10psi in the OP's case.

If you can email me a datalog (shiv@vishnutuning.com) I can try to make sense of what you are seeing. Without it, Im just guessing. Not something I can figure out here. And it should have nothing to do with wastegate compensation as everything is completely disabled in valet mode.

Alright thats good
Also can I limit the boost to 13 psi peak if I wanted to?

yes. Just remember that the max boost value doesn't dictate your actual boost pressure. But rather the maximum allowable boost the Procede will target via autotuning when running race gas/meth. Think of it has an upper cap.

Thanks shiv. I guess I'm just very frustrated right now. I'll do what I can in the am. I'm in limp mode now anyway. Map 0 runs just like map 3. Going home for the night.

Oddly this is exactly what happened to one of my customers ride.
We tried to remove procede and the wg clicking is gone.

The car does have the old harness though, I flash the unit v4 and everything works like a charm.

I have the old harness with update that was posted. I followed the directions to the "T". My procede was purchased in august 2010. When my car was the V4 I NEVER had one single issue!!!! I was thinking about reverting back too! ???????

My situation is a bit different, the car runs fine upon start cold and drive normally, but if drive aggressively, the wg would start clicking and thats when the boost starts to range from 3 to 8psi or so, and it won't go away.
There was no CEL though.

but it sounds similar too. minus the cel. But the whole driving normal thing is the same as my car also. Everything is fine till i want to get on it. and the boost does exactly what yours does as well.
