Auto. xi reliability

Hello to all.

I’m in the market for a used 06+07 E90 auto. How reliable are these transmissions + all-wheel-drive. I have come across many posts about lowering the xi and staggered wheels. I guess I will not have a problem there.

Does the BMW auto. transmission work like Audi's tiptronic?

I'm coming of a lease soon (Honda) and the B7 A4 and the E90 3 Series are cars that I’m considering.

the xi is great as is the automatic transmission. the tranny is bulletproof. people run like 18psi and dont have problems with their tranny's. as for the xi, in the winter, if you have winter tires its great, however if you have summer tires its useless. the xi is also great for launching the car. hope that helps.

Yes, you don't have to worry. It's a ZF automatic, well-known/good transmission. And look at all the tuned xi's who have no problems!

In either scenario it's a good tranny.

328's come with a different transmission than the 335's ZF tranny but they are both dependable.
Some people have issues with the rear mechatronics sleeve on their transmission leaking (I know that I did) but this is an effortless repair that BMW is aware of.

I am not all too certain but I believe the 335 was introduced in the 2007 MY(model year) and the 330 existed in the 2006 MY. 330xi's are much harder to come by than the 335xi's so it may be hard to find an '06 xi.

Also, take note that if you are going to be tracking the car or anything like that I would recommend trying to find a model with an oil-cooler. This may be hard to do on an '07 model.

No problems here....if you consider a high mileage E9x, I would do a trans fluid flush just for piece of mind.

Actually I would do a full fluid flush...brakes, coolant, oil, trans and diff fluid, power steering.

I will not use the car for any kind of racing. As far as mods. all i will do is wheels + supension.

Can you tell me more about this "mechatronics sleve leak" is this covered by BMW if it happens?

I have an 07 335xi and it has a tranmission leak. I'm not sure if it is the "mechatronics sleve leak" issue but I am sure it's going to cost me $760 to fix. My car has 62k Miles on it so it is out of warrantee.
