I'm taking delivery of my car tomorrow or Wednesday and was hoping to have the iPhone 4 snap-in adapter so I could test out the video feature of BMW Apps.

Does anyone know when the media version will be available? My CA is trying to get me an answer as well.

Just looked into this on a new car. Compatible App cars are as follows:

i models have to be 03/11 production
xi models have to be 04/11 production

so no you don't have it. sorry.

OP: You should have it provided your production began after March 1.

Reply: X refers to X models, not xi cars.

From BMW Apps:

Availability:
03/11 production for all car models.
04/11 production for all X models.

AHHH that would make more sense! I was wondering why cars with X drive wouldn't have that option sooner.

Again, pretty sure you didn't read my question. Where in the bulletin you've posted (that I read in February by the way) does it say when the iPhone snap-in adapter will be available? The only thing it mentions is that it will be released and discussed in an upcoming bulletin.

What would be so wrong with people not replying to posts if they didn't have an answer to the OP's inquiry?

there are some guys talking about an issue on the Iphone 4 Snap in latest what i heard was July 2010 for the Media Snap in but just check the 5series forum.

I heard it will be April or May for the 3 series. The original media adapter BMW forced the supplier to recall because of overheating. Therefore it's delayed. A 04/17 date was thrown out there but could be wrong.

I'm picking mine up on Wednesday so I'll let you know what I find out. My CA said they have it but didn't sound real confident.

Congrats on your car! They do have a iPhone 4 adapter in-stock; however, it is probably just the bluetooth version (my dealer has the same). The bluetooth version allows for bluetooth, charges the phone, use the car's antenna and that's about it. For BMW Apps, we'll need the media version for the video playback.

What about if I just want iPod playback? Will I need the Media Snap In Adapter?

For iPod playback you only need the apple white cable.

I am also waiting for the release of iphone 4 snap-in adapters, but I have been told that they have been postponed, they should be available since January.
There are supposed to be 3 snap-in models, one with just charger and antenna connection (the phone connection is via bluetooth), another one with audio support and another one that supports both audio and video.

If you ordered 6NR, then you can get the "Media" adapter when its available. This will allow BMW apps, you can use the BMW Connected app available in iTunes now. The apps right now are things like facebook and twitter. They are developing new apps for future releases. Also there will be better integration of the iPod out feature which allows the iDrive interface to look iPod-like. You get iPod video only when the car is not moving.

The only things available now is to connect your phone with the White cable. You can listen to music off your phone though iDrive. You get album artwork for the moment. The interface actually kinda sucks to switch music and I can understand the need for better iPod integration..

The BMW "music" snap-in adapter is available but the "media" snap-in is not out yet.

Doesn't suck, just doesn't look like iTunes. It will show your playlists. It also shows album art.

Will be nice if "PlugIn" also allows and more importantly holds the shuffle (RANDOM) function which the current iDrive does not appear to allow. PIA to half to select the RANDOM choice every time car is started or input is changed to hear songs shuffled.
