Question regarding audio

Hey guys, I need some help with the audio system.

1) What's the aux input inside the glove box for? I connected my ipod to that and it doesn't seem to work that way.
2) Is it possible to save songs from a USB memory stick to the car's music hard drive? I know how to save music from a CD, but don't know if it works with a USB memory stick or ipod?

Thanks!

1. Make sure to select the "aux input" on the stereo. And there's a volume gain control for that connection. Make sure it's turned up. You should be using the aux input port in the center armrest. I don't know what the one in the glovebox is.

2. You can play music over USB from a flash drive or iPod only if you have the USB in the center console armrest (6FL/6NR option code). The USB port in the glovebox does not allow for that function.

1. it's auxiliary audio input. you might wanna check your ipod's volume to see if it is too low. any audio source works.

2. Yes, plug a USB stick into either glove box/armrest and go to external devices and import. only armrest USB supports play from USB stick. Ipod will not work with glove box USB.

Elsewhere on this forum others have written that they have USB hard disk drives plugged into the glove box and it works well.

Different drives require different power levels so a careful selection would be required if purchasing.

Is anyone streaming Pandora music through their plugged in iPhone?

If you are streaming Pandora music:
1) Which input(s) are you plugged into?
2) Does the Pandora screen display on the BMW screen?
3) Are you able to use the iDrive to control, select, skip songs ?
4) Which iphone models can do this?

Thanks

You can export your files on your in-car hard disk through the glovebox USB port.

mrcamp - I should have asked this earlier:

Have you tried connecting your iPhone to the USB connector in the center console using the white apple cable, instead of connecting through the Aux in the center console? With any ipod or iphone, the music lists, selections etc all appear on the BMW idrive screen. Will this enable you to also view the streaming Pandora music info on the idrive screen?

Also, what is the build date for your F10? Before or after 9/1/10 .... 3/1/11?

Thanks again.

For the Ipod functionality on the phone, Yes. I have connected it to the USB connector. Playlists, artists, album art etc. shows up on the Idrive screen.

As for playing pandora while connected via USB, I believe I tried and it did not work. I will have to try it again.

I don't have a usb port in the glovebox of my new F10. The console usb supports an iPod Classic through the Apple furnished sync cord but does not support an iPod Nano Gen 2.
