Picture Request - Spacers on stock XI sport height and style 162
hi guys,
does anyone have pictures of a 2008 sport xi with spacers with the style 162 rims? just wanted to see how it would look with the "XI in the middle drop" between stock height and the true sport drop. I'm pulling the trigger on a set of spacers, but just wanted to make sure the car doesn't look "WERID" without needing to invest in a set of springs or coils to drop the car. Thanks all! |

07 328xi, stock suspension, wheel spacers; 12mm front, 15mm rear. I would add that the more I learn about these cars, the less we should be messing around with the way they are setup. Particularly the xi models. Since I put 12mm on the front, making it even narrower than the rear, when the car already has over-steer characteristics, is backwards. I should probably reverse them, put the 15mm in front, 12mm in back, to make it handle better, technically.

thanks 4 corners for the picture looking good....i'm putting on 10mm in front and 15mm rear.
I really didnt want to start playing with the suspension (ie spings or coilovers to drop the ride height). I came from a 01 prelude with Tein Coilovers with a 1.5 front and 2.25 rear inch drop. The car looked really nice...ie not much tire and fender gap, but i alwas had to be real carful pulling into parking lots, speed bumps etc.... |

I'm pretty sure the sport package for the Xi does NOT provide a drop.
That would defeat the purpose of an AWD car. If it can't clear snow, how will it move? Here's a picture of my car with 8.5" Breytons all around. OEM 162s are 8.5" in the back so this should give you an idea of how it will look. 15mm spacers. Spacers are for aesthetics, or fine tuning tracking. Last edited by 4corners; 04-15-2011 at 10:53 AM.. |

This article is from the 1addicts forum. Read what the BMW M engineers say about putting on after-market wheels and tires. You have to put aesthetics aside. |

I added spacers until they rubbed. Start at the front and widen until they bub and then back down to non-rub size. Thne go for the rear with a couple cases of water in the trunk and then hit a few small bump and chest for rubbing and then back off one size. You might end up with an extra set to sell.
