Is your iPod always on?

I find that even when the car os off... the iPod is in there charging and ON. Whether I use the "Y" cable or the iPod white connector usb cable the same thing exists. I don't really want to kill my battery by having my iPod sit in the center console.

Anyone else notice this?

Are you sure about this? It's a refrigerator light type problem. When you open the door to see what's going on in the car, the electrical system is re-energized. When you shut things down, shut the doors and leave, it all goes to "sleep" after some random number of minutes.

Garage List
ipod probbaly draws very little power. Either way, hold down the play/pause button for 3 sec, it will shut off.

The iPod sleeps when inactive for a few minutes. It is turning off, probably a few minutes after you have turned off the car.

I think the OP is finding the iPod "ON" when he/she returns to the car after a while. The iPod description doesn't explain this.

Yes, i noticed the same thing. The ipod screen always seems to be
illuminated and in charging mode. I have always assumed it stops charging a few minutes after everything in the vehicle is turned off

As the prior post indicates, your I-pod will go to sleep after a few minutes. ther should be nothing to worry about for running the battery down and would just keep it plugged in all the time using the Apple supplied cable.

Constant charging will KILL IPOD's battery for sure (even if its "sleeping").

This is also contrary to my experience with numerous batteries in iPods and other devices.
