Is it really necessary to re-align the wheels after changing your springs?

Hey guys,
Since I've never done this before I turn to the more knowledgeable of you to ask this question. I honestly have no clue whether this claim is true or just a myth. Your input is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, but wait about a week before doing so. Let the springs settle a bit.

Yep. For the sake of even tire wear.

4-wheel alignment is much preferred.

cost should be about $80 @ independent shop. Dealer charges $150 range

If the new springs are shorter than the originals the camber angle will be altered, therefore a full suspension geometry check should be carried out.

Doesn't matter even if you put the same springs back on. You've altered the position of the installed suspension and it needs to be aligned again, period.

I had springs put my my car at a independent tire shop, had the alignment checked electronically, and the car was still within specs.

I also took it to the dealer and they wouldn't even check the alignment since I had put on the lowering springs. They said that since the alignment specs were all different from the original, that they couldn't align it.

Interesting comment from the dealer, did they say whether or not your warranty would be compromised by the spring change?

Yes, strut components are no longer warrantied after you put lowering springs on the car.
