Question What does your dealer charge for factory ipod part & install?

Since I see no aftermarket options to go w/the factory nav, I guess I will bite the bullet

what have you paid or been quoted for the part(s) & install?

Anyone install it themselves? I've been working on my own cars since I started driving so if it's not a huge PITA I can do it as well.

It requires programming

They are charging about 500 to 600 if you have the regular radio more like 1k if you have the the Nav Screen I drive setup .

You are almost better off considering and aftermarket head unit but that's a big pain to because of all the modules for bluetooth and SoS phpne modules that hang off the various computer buses that hang off or are connected to the radio and the fact that the BMW programmer needs to see the radio and theoriginal configuration of the car to do software up dates if needed.

There was a sticky at the top of the page on this

try doing a search for ipod there are a lot of threads

If you have a CD changer installed you won't need the programming but you will
loose the CD changer as it uses the CD Changer interface to run the IPOD

although I thought I had read the prices were not the same for idrive and standard radio.

they should have a display like this on your local stealer website.
