Need help please! electrical system/radio
Hi all, I have a 2007 BMW 328i i bought used last year. I was driving down the road yesterday when all of the dashboard lights turned on, the radio and air turned off and the dash started beeping. The driving of the car was fine though. everything went back to normal after 30 seconds and then 5 minutes later it did it again. I decided to take it in to the dealer and on the way there it happened over and over again. It seemed as if everything was resetting and then my buttons stopped working on my stering wheel. after the first day the dealer couldnt figure out what was wrong. Today, he claims 3 things wrong with the car. two under warranty and the radio is not. He claims that the ecetrical component that the radio talks to is broken and can be replaced under warranty but he claims that even though my radio works, it still needs to be replaced. He said something is wrong with the wiring and when he replaces the electrical component the radio makes the lights and beeps go off again. He told me it would be 1100 for a new radio. Anyone have any ideas if this sounds ligit and if so does anyone have any idea of a cheaper solution or know where i can get a used radio? Appreciate any help you can give me.

i would have them replace everything that is covered under warranty w/o changing the radio to see if it fixes it. if it doesnt then the radio is not a hard part to replace and can be had a lot cheaper thru tisher, so you can just buy it and take it to another shop to replace for probably half price of that quote.

1: sounds like the dealer is trying to make money.
2: how old is your battery, a low/old battery makes the electronics to very weird things. This would be my first guess. 3: loose fuse? The radio should not affect the dash or steering buttons not relating to the radio. Find out which fuses control the items which are giving you problems, it is probably a common fuse. 4: google your question too, I always do and usually it has happened to someone before. Good luck

Tell him he's full of shit and the radio should be covered under warranty too. Otherwise take down his name and employee ID and tell him that you're going to talk to BMW NA that he told you this .

If you need a radio that is cheaper than $1100 let me know. I have the full interior from a 3 series that was taken apart to be converted to a race car. Just e-mail me at speakingonthebox (at) gmail (dot) com and it will go straight to my iphone.

OP, you can definitely get the radio for cheaper either used (eBay or the forum, etc) or new from ticsher. Doesn't matter if it is base, HiFi, or Top-HiFi (Logic 7). It can be coded to whatever system you have. As long as you replace it with the same type.....Professional with professional, Business with business., iDrive vs non-iDrive. Can you tell us exactly what modules are malfunctioning? That will allow us to tell you if the SA is BS you or not. |

tisher is a bmw delear that sells oem parts near or below cost and you they run a website with awesome customer support that is run by very knowledgeable people. Typical most dealers mark up items they seem to do the opposite.

She still needs to know:
1). Is it likely the radio is actually causing this problem? 2) is the radio covered under a CPO warranty? 3) is the programming of a covered warranty part (JBE?) also covered |
