North American Z4 3.0si top speed?

Hey Guys,

This is my very first post on ZPost forums - so I just wanted to start by saying hello to everyone!

I just bought a 2008 Z4 3.0si (sport/premium package, 6 speed, silver on black leather, only 35,000kms). Bought it through a friend's BMW dealership - with the certified pre-owned status, brand new W-rated tires, and refinished rims.

My initial question pertains to the North American top speed of this car. I am aware that the Euro-spec is governed to 250km/h - is that the case with my particular model as well? I know my tires could certainly handle it - I just know that most Canadian cars seem to be governed to around 200-215km/h.

Apologies if this question has already been answered in an earlier post!

Thanks guys,

Greg

Why is this relevant in the "track" section?

There are no tracks outside of dedicated, factory test tracks in United States where you'll ever come even remotely close to the speed governor. The so-called fastest NASCAR oval, typical top speed of road going cars are in the 120-130mph range. M5 and M6 will get to about 150 mph. The fastest I've ever seen a car on any track was a McLaren F1 in Le Mans race trim. It topped 180mph driven by one of the best road racing driver in America.

Any discussion of top speed on this forum is moot.

Thanks for the warm welcome 'Hack'

I posted this topic under this section because it didn't make a whole lot of sense to list it in any of the other subheadings - e.g. engine/exhaust, cosmetics modifications, suspension and breaking chat, etc.

A simple "i don't know", or "here's the answer" would have sufficed.

Thanks for your contribution.
