dvd cd MEDIUM COULD NOT BE READ

HI YALL, IM FRUSTRATED

for some reason my 2006 325 coupe wont read dvd cd's properly, either it reads only half of it for example maps from A tot M and it wont read de rest from N to Z...odd stuff

or it will read it for a couple of seconds and then it says medium could not be read

does anyone know what is causing this?

my brother's 2010 330 d convertible has no problems at all reading these dvd discs...

i really hope someone can help me out here, called bmw, they advised me to burn at lower speed, tried that didnt help...

i never had a software update for my business navi...holla back at me

thnx in advance

I think there was a problem with this and a software update solved the problem. Search around a bit more in the audio/video sections.

Don't search the whole site, use the search feature in the SUB-forum.

Do you have a iPod with bluetooth? Or any audio player with bluetooth? You can get a Blackberry stereo gateway and plug that into your AUX port.

It streams music wirelessly over bluetooth.

I have this and use it with my iPhone. I rarely use CDs or my radio or sirius really.

but if u use the aux in with ipod or iphone, u wont be able to use steering wheel to change tracks etc, u would have to do everything using idrive or ur ipad iphone itself...

right?

yeah dvd cd's, they have a bigger capacity , 4,7 gb allowing you to burn about 40 or more albums on 1 cd... all e90 series with navi should be able do read these cd's

DVD CDs are more commonly known as MP3 DVDs.

This reminds me.....OP do you have iDrive?

If so, I'm sure you're aware that there are 2 slots for media, top would be CD and bottom DVD for the NAV.
For MP3 DVDs to work, you need to put it in the lower, DVD NAV slot.....you won't be able to use NAV.
MP3 CDs would go in the upper slot.

If you don't have iDrive, I'm not sure if you can use DVDs in the CD slot.
Your brother's 2010 has a new design for the HU which may be the reason why it works in his car and not yours (if you don't have iDrive).
Have you tried MP3 CDs compared to DVDs?

thnx fdriller, but i knew that already...see i have idrive and business navi so therefore just 1 slot, which is both for navi and audio..

maybe it differs from the usa models since im in the netherlands, but still, im new newbie to bmw, been having bmws for almost 10 years now...this probl really amazes me...how can it read only half of a cd, whenever it feels like reading it...

Hi, i guess i have similiar problem... Last time...very often happen that in iDrive the warning message appers: File/track cant be read

at first i thought that the changer in trunk cant read my music CD...but than i found what did it mean. I wanted to run Navi and nothing happened. It was too laggy. No response. Still reading the fckg map DVD and nothing. So I am blind now...thats very nice when the NAVI cost about 2 000 Euro!!! F.CK BMW!
