possible compact spare for F10
Has anyone tried the wheel from the X5/X6 spare to see if it fits and clears on an 535 or 550?
Would need a different size tire and a centering ring but those can be obtained. This tread talks about doing it for an M3, just wondered if it would fit our cars?? http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253769 Any experience or info would help. Thanks |

E60 will not I'm afraid, others have tried, pretty much ruled everything else out except this possibility. Tire would be too large from the SUV but correct size tire is available. Center hole too large but centering ring fixes that.
Hope someone has or can try it. |

Objective is saving space in the trunk. if a compact spare wheel and tire can be found then keeping a spare in the truck is more practical.
I currently have a full size spare on a full size wheel. Cheap wheels in a full size are available...yes. The idea was a five inch wide wheel (compact spare) vs a eight inch wide one with the appropriate tire and about 40% space saving in the trunk. |

What's wrong with this? swap to 135/90/17 tire to get 674.8mm diameter (factory is 680mm).

I had thought the X5/X6 being 18" wheel was a safer bet, total diameter with 155/70-18 is 674mm. Hub is too large but centering ring will fix that. Just need real experiences on the F10 to determine. |

I have not tried it, no intention to purchase yet. I just saw those in my local dealer. Next week I'm bringing my car for m sport aero kit retrofit. If they still have that spare tire kit available, I will asked them to try the rim to see if it fits. |

What year X5/X6 were you referring to? The BMW X5 and X6 wheels are actually a bit funky to be honest. BMW had designed various hub sizes for specific years/trim levels.
X5 E53 - 72.6 center bore X5 E70 - 74.1 center bore X5M E70 - 72.6 front/74.1 rear center bore X6 E71/72 and M - 74.1 front/74.1 rear center bore -Charles@VMRWheels
