Strange noise at 55mph after staggered wheels installed. Need your Help.

So I took off my stock 16" RFT wheels and put on a set of 225/40/18front and 255/35/18rear. I went for a drive and it all seemed fine when I was driving 65mph on a toll road. then on the way back, I was doing slower speed, I notice a very obvious hummingg like noise when the car as doing 55mph. The noise is like all over in the car. I can't really locate it to the wheels but since this is the first time I heard such noise, my suspicion went to the wheels. But I can't think why staggered wheels would cause such noise. I thought maybe the wheels are not balanced as I got them second hand, but I did not feel any vibration at the 55mph speed. I understanding is if the wheels are not balanced then there should be some vibration at higher speed. Now the only other possibility left to me is the resonance; maybe this set of wheels cause resonance at that particular speed? But again, the wheels are on 162 rims which I think are quite common on Xis. So I just don't know what is the causing the noise and I don't know if I should keep driving it as maybe it caused further problems. Any suggestion/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

What tires do you have? The tires on my 19s produce a lot of road noise/humming.

Im running bf goodrich tires...the model escapes me right now though.

Thanks for your reply. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. I did not choose these tires. They came with the rims I bought. The noise are not road noise. It starts from 50mph and most obvious at 55mph then goes away at 60mph. The noise was so loud than when i first noticed it, I had to pull over to make sure the wheels were not losen!

Maybe they need to be rebalanced. Make sure there are no bends or anything like that.

If the tires were used check to make sure that the tread wear hasn't worn down to the indicator in certain spots. that may cause it too.
