330i DS mode weirdness

OK, so I'm familiar with how DS mode is generally supposed to work having used it lots in a couple of e90's that I've had ... but my e90 330 is suddenly acting very weirdly when in DS mode. It simply won't shift past 4th gear no matter how fast I go. But, setting the the cruise control, it will almost instantly shift into 5th. Cruise control off (without changing speed) and it goes back to 4th. Its also very VERY slow to shift past 3rd no matter how sedately I'm driving. The shift patterns in regular D mode are as normal - just the sport mode has gone mental.

Any ideas? Its driving me nuts - going at 100kms, the engine is revving its guts out stuck in 4th.

Put your keyfob into the slot and keep your foot away from the brake pedal. Then press the start button, place your foot on the accel. pedal and hold for 10+ seconds. This supposedly resets what your car has 'learnt' regarding your driving style and should be returned to factory fresh stock.

If that doesnt work, disconnect the battery and leave overnight, this resets your ecu and should also fix the issue.

Already tried the accelerator reset thing; didn't do anything - there seems to be some debate as to whether this actually works.

Thanks - I'll try disconnecting the battery. This might be a stupid question, but will everything work as normal once I re-connect it? In particular, the iPod interface that I had retrofitted. Will resetting the ECU mean that it will have to be programmed again? The last thing I want is to have to visit my dealer.

I have had my battery disconnected for 2 weeks before and it went back to normal pretty quickly after reconnecting.
