F10 550i on Eibach springs

OK. Final got it done. And tonight took a drive from Mid-levels to BMW Service center via Eastern Corridor, back to Tai Hang Road, Stubbs road, and back to mid-levels. Nothing fast and spirited.

Here's the take. In short, BMW should come with this as standard! I am not looking for rock hard suspensions and ultra low drop. My objectives are actually quite simple:

1) Reduce wheel gap from 4-finger to 2-2.5 fingers wide. Dont want to look like an SUV
2) Very slightly firmer ride compared to stock.
3) Get rid of the boat-like feeling. I want to drive a BMW, not a boat.

So how does the Eibach springs do for those objectives?

1) Gap went from 4-fingers to 2-fingers. Nice. But this is before the springs settles. Wondering if they will go a lot lower, which is not so nice for me

2) Ride is definitely firmer, and I can feel it even on Eastern corridor. My sensor (my butt) reads a lot more of the road surface now. Also, real big difference between normal and comfort mode now. Sport is even stiffer! Much more similar to my ex-C55 AMG now.

In cornering and in sport mode, very responsive, I think this is more a sport sedan now than the stock luxury. Unfortunately, weather was not very good and tons of slow traffic so can't do spirited runs yet.

For daily drive, I feel that comfort mode is best to drive relaxed and dampens the road imperfections very well. You know you are going thru them, but not enough to bother you.

In normal mode, car feels quite planted on the road already. Nice. And I feel a bit more of the roads via steering wheel as well, which is good But sometimes it feels that it is a bit too hard.

3) Boat feelings. What boat feelings? I have to try hard to remember

Took some pix at night to show the drop a bit. will link them here once I upload them.

All-in-all, so far so good. Can't really quantify how much harder vs stock but here's what the Eibachs felt like to me:
Comfort (Eibach)=Normal (stock), Normal (Eibach)= Sport (stock), Sport(Eibach)= Sport+(stock). Haven't tried Sport+ with Eibachs yet......

PS. Photos added here

Great review. First Eibach review here.

Are they same as ACS? Or different spec?

I thought your active stabilizer is already pretty good. Anyway good to see you have the boat gone.

Sure looks better with the fender wheel gap reduced.

Thanks! But I hope they don't settle too much lower. Right now is just about right for me.

Wow wow ... fantastic
The eibachs are so good.. can't wait to put them on my car too when i can find some shocks
Don't think anyone has tried eibach with dynamic dampers (Adaptive) .. are you first one?
So you can feel more of the road? How much more road noise do you feel versus the increased anti-roll effect? Pls tell us later when you have drove some more
Is drop even front-rear?
Woarh.. so happy for you

Any word on how a moderate drop like this will effect shock wear? Sounds like the drop is okay in ride quality as opposed to something a little more aggressive like H&R. I've been up in the air regarding suspension, but if it deals with it okay I can't imagine not doing these or the ACS springs.

Not that many people go for Eibachs. I think Eibachs not as exotic as compared to other brands?

Haven't really noticed much road noise increase. But tiny road vibrations are there. As for hard cornering stability, will have to wait for better weather

Drop seems pretty even to me.

On the e60 I seen many cars droped and the shocks will die much sooner.
there is 6 member that have change there shocks. most of them have only done about 45000km to 55000km.
BMWHK say the shocks will last for about 80000km.
BMWHK say the rear shocks will die 1st.
I would guess that F10 will be about same or even soon because it is 350kg+ more than E60.
I did not lower my pre LCI E60 or my LCI E60 but I did install the Spring Bumper Retainer which my shocks did not need to change at 75000km when I sold it.

eibachs is the best both ways if you have wife or kids.
but if you what better ride and wife and kids dont mind then the H&R is better.

99% of our E60 go for the eibachs because it lowers the car for looks and keeps the ride. Best thing is all wife dont complan.

Have you tried other springs to compare this? I'm just curious because I'm making my decisions for suspension as we speak heh.

I have tried H&R and Eibach on the 5ers and I like eibach much more.
99% of ppl that change springs on a 5er is for looks, so ask your self, is my mod for looks or handling or both?
Looks = eibach
handling = H&R
