Featured below is the first commercial promo video for the F10 M5. The only other video of the production M5 has been the launch video from BMW (see in our M5 Official Thread).

The spot focuses on the versatility of the F10 M5 - from urban duties to spirited mountain carver. Check it out.

Of course, who doesn't want screens in the back on a 100k fake sports car.

Awesome Cinematography, check!

Unoriginal, boring, and anti-climatic, check!

Would be great if they put some more thought into THE FIRST SPOT FOR THE NEW M5 instead of "We should definitely get some shots of it driving 35MPH in tons of locations, enthusiasts will LOVE that".

On a more serious note, BMW had some great ads starting to show up with the updated 3 series fascia and really drove home "enthusiasts" and "fun".

This ad said nothing. Sure, it showed it in different locations.... but what car commercial doesn't.

Mix it up a bit, BMW. It's not that hard to think of an idea for the first ad presenting a hugely awaited horsepower machine.

eh its ok... I wish it was more enthusiast oriented, but this car is geared more towards professionals that want to look good driving relatively slow in something exclusive like an M5. 99% of people that buy this car will never even think of taking it to the track. So I guess that's why they made the commercial this way.

Valid point, but it shouldn't keep from incorporating some kind of story or motif to the commercial.

It's possible to be creative with montage as well.

I'm pretty sure car makers can't make videos of their cars racing around. Remember that episode of Top Gear where Jezza and the boys had to make a commercial? They were specifically told; "No driving fast"...

It encourages people to drive recklessly you see.....

It's possible to be safe and still incorporate a story though.

It just seems like extremely lazy advertising. Disregard the need to break traction or drive recklessly; it's more than possible to still make a great commercial with that car and include a comedic and/or intriguing story.

Since when does BMW make dedicated track cars? Especially a car as big as the M5... the car is made for professionals who want to go fast whenever they're not on the job, and nothing else. The commercial sucks but I think a lot of the people on this website miss the point of the car itself. Sure it was tested on the ring but of course the reason is that they need to make sure it can hold up even in the most extreme situation. It wasn't tested on the ring with intentions of it actually being a track car.

I wouldn't be so sure of that percentage! There are numerous people on M5board that track their M5. I don't doubt that many are going to make the changeover to the F10. I myself will not be "upgrading" to the F10 because I just can't get enough of the V10!

I never said that it is a dedicated track car, I just said that due to the fact that they know 99% of people won't track it, they take a different approach when advertising it. You misunderstood me, obviously I know that a 4100lb, 190+ inch long sedan isn't supposed to be a track car lol.

M5Board is a very small percentage of M5 owners though, and on top of that I doubt all of the users on M5 board actually track their M5, they may just like modding it. I still stand by my claim that 99% of M5 owners don't track them.

Remember when BMW used to make GOOD commercials? THIS is how you do it.

Clearly people who produced this video didn't drive a BMW. Come on, this is M5 you can produced something with more creativity and excitement.

Driving in the city, getting out of town, parking at home. Such a boring video. It can be any car commercial.

In terms of what the M5 is it fullfils the brief.

"A Business man's car which at the press of a button turns into a high performance car" Deliberately understated.

Plus the imagery scenery of Cape Town , South Africa adds to the overall look of a less traditional location.

Tyre smoking etc does not appeal unless done on a track , doing that on public roads is a big no-no.

I feel bad for BMW, even the Cadillac CTS-V commercial is more exciting than this one.
