Reviews for xi coilovers

Either getting the kw v1 or h&r coilover for xi. The h&r has a lower drop in front from what I read (2.5in vs 1.8in). I just wanna make sure they close up that front rake/gap the xi's have. H&R seems to be enough of a drop but what about kw?? How u guys like them ??? Any reviews??

KW since you live in Montreal and will benefit from the stainless steel body. Don't wanna have to worry about coping with the elements. I just picked up a set from a forum vendor for the same reasons you did; eliminate front rake and needed something good in snow/salt season.

I thought the corrosion problem was solved by spaying some all weather stuff onto it.

The KW V3 isn't in your comparison but the pics in my sig will give you a point of reference.

I have H&R coilovers and the performance is great. I'm not worried about corrosion... I live in a desert (which isn't a bad thing). But since you live in Canada, go with KW's. I don't know how much I would trust a spray to avoid corrosion over a long time.

Hey, that's my link above

After raising the coils a 1/2 inch just 2 days after that pic was taken, due to scraping in my poorly designed underground (nice to have this flexibility), I still can't say enough good things about the increased handling and looks.

I was skeptical about spending $1700 or so but well worth it. It really is a must have if you enjoy on ramps.

I have the KWV1's and I can honestly say that I'm still really happy with them. They held up through one of our worst conditions this past winter. The ride quality is so close to stock that I often forget I have coilovers installed. Here is a pic of my setup. With before and after.

Drakos,

can you share the list of support mods that you needed besides the KW V1 kit? like camber kit, any accessories, etc?

Also, how easy is it to adjust the height on the unit? did you try out the H&R coilovers before getting the KW? thx.

i don't think you will be happy trying to adjust the h & r's after being installed for a winter, they use steel threaded adjusting collars in the rear, and the threaded section hangs down below the lower control arm, so they will be in direct line of fire for snow, salt, ect. i'd go with kw's, they use aluminum adjusters for the rear, and they are above the spring, instead of below like the h & r

I love the look of it. I would also appreciate the opportunity to take a ride, or speak with you to find out the differences with the KW V1's. Looks like you are in Alberta??

Just to add another look..

Before and after, 335ix with H&R coilovers, modest drop. 18" wheels on both, 235 - 265 non-RFT on drop. The ride is great and a big difference in handling. Great value.
