Protectionof my engine = crap More refined tune = crap I am sure there are as many on both sides and only a fool would say one is better for those reasons. Kinda like me saying JB4 better cause it's got steering wheel controls |

haha.. it's nothing like that. I've had the JB3, JB4, Procede V4, Procede V5, and Cobb Stage I. I'm not in any fanclub or anything, but I do feel that the JB4 is pretty crude in its implementation.

I have to agree with Mase. JB products are nothing more than glorified boost controllers.
A product that has no effect on timing is hardly a tune. Procede controls all it's Canbus functions via the cruise control stick. It's a more complete product with better integration (speed delimited, o2 sim for catless DP's, timing control, Meth injection control,etc....). Someone who has tried both can attest that the Procede felt smoother and more responsive from traffic cruising speeds. Top end both tunes were inseperable. To top it off, you can't beat the local support.

I appreciate the v5 has timing control, but I would prefer the BMW factory settings. Apart from speed delimit, I don't see no benefit over the jb4 |

That's your call, but you forgot one important thing..... the "BMW factory settings" target for "Factory" based boost targets, which if I'm correct - we are not running on.
All things being equal on both tunes, the JB relies on successive knock events at raised boost before retarding any timing. So in effect it listens for knock then responds to adjust timing. The Procede on the other hand, pro-actively retards timing based on the requested boost target. Less knock does make it a 'safer' tune.

The principles of tuning a turbo car imply that you adjust the 3 main inputs to making power, these are; Fuel Boost Timing Adjusting only 2 of these is not tuning, it's just relying on the factory system for the 3rd being over engineered enough to withstand the abuse. Keep in mind early N54's came with forged pistons. Newer ones & N55's not so. So the earlier engines are probably a bit stronger and able to withstand the abuse.
