What to cover with blue tape for trackday?

Hi,

I will be attending a driving school soon... I was wondering, what should I cover up? I've seen some people running with blue tape on bits and bobs... I don't want my car to get scratched from hitting cones, etc.

Any tips? I've seen people covering the headlights, I assume that's so the glass doesn't fall out if broken? How much of the front bumper should I cover up? The doors? The rear?

Thanks.

Nothing. Blue tape in front of the car is a sure sign of a rookie driver.

If anything, I saw someone with a pretty clever idea. Contact papers. Easy to apply, easy to take off, and they come in large sheets so you don't need to spend 30 minutes applying it only to have bits of it fly off at the track.

I once saw a guy put blue painter's tape over his clear bra, then put a Colgan leather bra on top of the blue painter's tape, and then taping the edge of the Colgan bra with more painter's tape. Guy spent so much time protecting the front end of the car, that he missed the driver's meeting and his first session.

Dude Probably ends up with a rock chip on the door. Carma.

Taping also prevents a lot of glass from being strewn about the track when you crash... at least that's the thought when tracking bikes.

Tape is for pu$$ies. If you're that worried about the car, stay home.

Disregard my prior post.

Tape the entire from bumper, including headlights and fogs. Tape your mirrors. Tape the rocker panels. Better tape behind the rear wheels. Oh, don't forget the entire hood. You also may want to tape your wheels..but not the tires.

That ought to do it.

I only tape something if it might fall off. I lost a headlight washer cover, so to be safe I taped the other one. It looked like my car had eye black on, but it served a purpose. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it.

Oh, and if you're going to pose, do it in style. I used yellow tape on my BSM.

I tape my licence plate, and behind the back tires if I plan to be sliding.

Licence plate so any pictures do not surface to my insurance, behind the tires so that I don't have to scrub off rubber that had stuck on from fooling around.

Fortunately, the driver of this Ferrari applied plenty of blue tape before tracking it...

OP,

I only use tape on my windshield. Many driving events require you to place a sticker on there. Applying a small amount of tape underneath makes removal a breeze.
