18" VMR V710 or 19" Avant Garde M310

I am looking for a new set of rims and really like these style's. I also want to have a fairly strong wheel that resists bending when hitting a pothole. After reading the boards I have found that the V710's have a history of bending and poor paint finishes. The Avant Garde's seem to have a better reputation. The low pressure casting and high load rating are attracting me to these wheels. However, I wanted to get 18" wheels to further reduce my chances of bending a wheel. The Avant Garde's do not offer sizes that I am looking for in 18"'s, so I have to go with the 19" wheels.

So, my question is: Which wheel is stronger, 18" VMR V710 or 19" Avant Garde M310. Does anyone know the load rating for the VMR's?

Thanks!

The Avant Garde wheels are stronger then the VMR's, and Lighter then VMR's also.

VMR wheels are Gravity Cast, which is an inherently heavier and weaker process then a Low Pressure casting.

I run Avant Garde M368's on my car, and love them.

Thanks!

Does size difference affect strength?
Would an 18" VMR be stronger than a 19" Avant Garde?

No, an 18" is still gravity cast. I have hit some pretty good holes with my AG's and have yet to bend one

also, the finish on the AG's is very very good.

You're definitely correct as the Avant Garde wheels (18" and 19") are low pressure cast which do utilize the same manufacturing process as your OEM wheels. What that means is that yes, they're going to be stronger than most gravity cast wheels out in the market. Avant Garde does offer the M310 in the 18x8.0 ET35 / 18x9.0 ET38 combos which will still work perfectly fine for the 3 series. If you're looking to go up in size to 19s they're available in the 19x8.5 ET35 / 19x9.5 ET33 or ET43 combos. The Avant Garde M310 wheels have been popular due to their durability and of course great overall looks. You definitely can't go wrong with this setup. Here are a few more pictures for you to check out!!!

Yes that is correct as the AG M310 18" fitments do only fit for the 325/330/328 models. The above statement was meant to clarify that both the 18" and 19" M310 wheels are low pressure cast.

I have 19" avant garde 310's and they are much stronger than I expected. I hit a fairly large pothole within miles of installing them and surprisingly no damage. I wouldn't worry too much about having 19's.
