I know the tire manufacturers don't recommend staggered winter tires, but I don't like the look of stretched tires on the rear. So I'm thinking of going staggered against the recommendation...This will mean slightly lesser traction in deeper snow, but are there any other cons?

I use a stock sized staggered set up, and never had any problems at all.

I've always run staggared wheels with snows in the Winter. Wouldn't do it any other way (on a car designed for staggered wheels to begin with...)

Many of our customers go with staggered setup for winter. Never had a complaint

I guess a lot of people goes non-staggered because the limited choice of wide rear winter tires.

A more narrow tire also provides a bit better loose snow traction.
