tires rubbing on E90 LCI M package
Hi everyone I got VMR VB3 wheels 18x8.5, 18x9.5 (Et front 44 rear 33) and installed them with Michelin Pilot Super Sport (front 235/40/18 rear 265/35/18) like two weeks ago. I found my rear tires rubbed and then I did fender rolling last week. However they still rub the fenders especially when I'm on the freeway (but just slightly). Is there any problem with the wheels or tires? And what should I do if I don't want any rubbing? Thanks!

The e90 lci does have a 8mm wider track vs the pre-lci e90 models. The et33 fitmet is considered aggressive for your car. Yes, you can and there have been a lot of guys who have fit the et33 in the back on an e90 lci with a fender roll (et40-45 is more optimal for the e90 lci). The culprit of your problem here is the specific tire brand and size that you chose. The Michelin pilot super sport tires do have a square sidewall and do run wider than most tires. When going with an aggressive setup I do always advise that a tire with a rounded sidewall is chosen (Falken 452 or Toyo T1R) for a better fit. Considering how your already running an aggressive offset on the car, I would recommend for you to go down in tire size from the 265/35/18 to a 255/35/18 setup if your planning to keep the Michelin tires. You can also explore the option of getting two rear vmr vb3 wheels in the 18x9.5 et45 which is more optimal.

You can run the 19x9.0 ET35 with a 235/35/19 up front and the 19x10 ET38 with a 265/30/19 in the rear w/ a fender roll. Again, you will have to run a tire with a rounded sidewall and I would recommend the Falken 452.

Agree with the side wall size comment. Would like to see a pic after the fender roll and more looking down the side of the car. I would suspect with a rear alignment dialiing in a little negative camber it should take care of the issue.

I have the same size/offset wheels on the rear of my e90 lci sport and the same tires, but 255/35/18, and mine don't seem to rub (haven't had passengers with the new wheels yet). The rim on mine doesn't seem to stick out as far, either, which seems strange.
Pardon the crappy pic quality - car's in a dark garage and the only thing I had with me was my crackberry. |

Looks like you're only rubbing at the very edge of the tire tread - a 255 might be enough to stop it. |
