High pressure fuel pump (hpfp)

I had a 535xi, the prior generation, and had a failure of the hpfp that was very frustrating and left me stranded far from home. The way BMW handled it was also less than excellent. Come to find out, failure of the hpfp was extremely common on the turbo engines and thousands of customers had problems.
I am thinking of trying a 550xi but want to know if hpfp failures are still a problem with the new model and the current turbo engines. Has anyone heard about or experienced this problem on the current generation cars?

That was a problem with the N54 engines. I don't think thats going to be a problem with the 550I..have you tried running a search on this forum yet?
