how exactly do you know if it is slipping? I am FBO, and the tranny feels a little weird lately, but ive never had a tranny slip before, so i have no idea what it does or feels like

was thinking of taking it in , mods done just bmw powerkit , went for another drive the next day drove for around 40mins no probs . the slipping felt like the valve for the traction control just dumped oil back to pan lost full pressure for a second ... thanx for both of the replies to my question ...

While the trans is cold, I have felt my converter not lockup at times. I can manually shift through the gears with kind of a slipping soft feeling. If I back off, it will lockout the converter and then it pulls hard without slipping. Doesn't do it all the time. I have 60k and have been tuned for 20k. I'm over 420rwhp and very happy with how it performs. Hopefully you don't have any major issues, but if you're under warranty I would take your car in and let the dealer know what happened. If it continues at least you have a record it happened before with the dealer and maybe they will swap your trans.

It will feel like your traction control is stepping in and killing your power, however, no CEL or DCS blinking. I've only had it happen once on my RB's.

IIRC, revving between shifts could also be related to transmission "learning". For example, I drive more aggressively in the summer and very cautiously in the winter (ice), so my tranny has learned the former and is shifting strangely now. There are steps to reset the tranny that might help. Of course if you're experiencing real slipping then disregard this.

thank you! so my tranny is not slipping..mine revs up a little then shifts...like lets say i have a pedal down enough for it to shift at 2500rpm, it would rev up to 2800-3000, (like it was neutral dropped or something) then shift up

Yeah I've noticed this on occasion since the car was new. Never really thought much about it other than it being normal.
