****335i N54 general questions**** tune, exhaust, fault codes, etc thread

i started a general questions thread on 1addicts back when i had my 135i. i was sick of the same 5 threads starting every day:

-which exhaust is better
-what does this fault code mean
-which tune allows you to x
-etc

(here's the 1-series thread for reference)
i figured the 3-series forum could benefit from a similar thread, to decrease the amount of useless and repetitive threads, to prevent the valuable threads from being bumped to the 2nd or 3rd page.


i'm not saying i'm an n54 expert, but i do know some of the basics. between the other knowledgable members, i think this thread will be an asset to the community.

Always a rule of thumb, you can't reinvent the wheel. Pipe size is really all that matters and material preference. There isn't really a "best" exhaust. It's all tone manipulation.

Anybody pre-order the HPF Gen2 exhaust yet? Kirk says they are still about 10 weeks from actual production. Definitely looking forward to some results from the gen2 comparison vs other competitors.

i'm eyeing that exhaust, as well. the resonated version sounds like a much better option with catless downpipes
