advice need: video camera

Hello, i am doing a project recording and producing unsigned artist preform there music videos.

My friend is currently using a cannon 550d.

I am looking to purchase my own camera, I would like something equivlant or maybe better.

I am looking to spend 200-600 maybe abit more. Hoping i dont have to buy too many different type of lense aswell.

Please help, thanks

I find my 550d hopeless for video if I'm honest, though it's supposed to be a strong point, it's the focussing I struggle to get to grips with. Not much help .

Canon 600D will be fine for the job, Good HD results plus the moveable viewfinder is good especially when recording video in awkward places etc

thank you, the lense they come with, are they ok for video recording, sorry im only a trainer at present.

Any lense you would recommend to purchase with them, i want as high quality as possible, on the budget i have.

I like the 50mm for video, the 1.4 is something like £80 and its a lovely lens for that kind of cheap price.

My only recommendation would be to get an external mic, as the internal one will pick up the sound when manual focusing.

Also depending on how long you can wait my preference is to go for mirrorless cameras which really are the future. New much more powerful ones should be out Q2/3 this year...
