Road Cyclists Tyre Help

Any on here in to cycling, road cycling in particular? Time has come to change the tyres on my bike, Specialised Allez Elite, which is currently running in the standard tyres it came with.

I want something that will give better grip in the wet. I\'ve read that slicks give the best grip in the wet but that goes against what I thought about tyres and grip.

Any advice appreciated!

Have a look on Wiggle as all of their products have consumer reviews as well

I've been using Vittoria Rubino pro 3 on my winter road bike and they have lasted well. Grippy enough and not had a single puncture. A lot of people seem to swear by the Continental Gatorskins but I've not tried them myself.

For better weather I use Continental GP4000 on my summer bike. I doubt they would last long in the winter though.

I tend to buy from Ribble and Planet X depending on who has the best offer on.

Cheers Mow I will have a look. Need some soon as my rear tyres nearly shot from using the turbo trainer.

Do you get folding or wire bead? I've never had an issue changing tyres and don't need the space saving

I use folding because they are a little lighter and I tend to carry a spare on long rides. I wouldn't buy anything good for use on a trainer. I tend to stick the cheapest tire possible on the bike when it's on the tt. I don't use the tt often though.
