Pumpkin bolts
Got my built pumpkin with Quaife LSD. However, it didn't come with the 3 bolts to mount it up. I do have 2 shaft seals and 12 new axle bolts.
Is it absolutely necessary to have brand new bolts? I'm talking about items 2, 3 and 4. Thanks! |

Sarcasm is lost online. I used my original ones when I installed my wavetrac. I think ordering the axle bolts is a good idea though. They are very easy to round. If you don't have inverted torque wrench I found that a 5/8 12point boxed end wrench worked best. Hope that helps.

Did you install your LSD? If so how hard was it to do? Can somebody with common sense and some mechanical skills do it? Thanks |

I got new bolts from the dealer. Problem solved. The shop is now ready to install the pumpkin along with M3 suspension parts. Can't wait!
I had VAC build the pumpkin with Quaife LSD. Unless you're stock diff is bolted, you'll need a shop with specialized machinery to get the job done. |

To answer the original question: The original bolts are OK to reuse. TIS states 100Nm (75lb-ft) on the M12 bolts on the front, and 165Nm (124lb-ft) on the rear bolt. It does state to use a new nut, but this is to account for the self-locking feature of the nut. It is OK to reuse the nut a few times, since the distorted-thread lock nut still holds up well. It's not even really necessary to use a self locking nut in that application, just good practice. They are not prone to vibration and loosening.
