991 for a week

Dealer contacted me today and asked if I would like to borrow a 991 for the week, well of course I took them up on the offer

Picked it up tonight and it's very nice, sounds awesome!!!! Will post a review and a few photos in the next couple of days

Lol yes mate that was me, I was still around just had personal stuff going on.

I get on well with my sales guy and I have bought 2 cars off him and my friend had one as well so he knows I do t him mess him about.

It's a great car but it does feel like its a bit artificial if that makes sense. It's much more of a gt compared with the 997, its damped so well and its on rails but for me there is something missing. I love my 997 and I am not sure the 991 would be for me.

Will do a proper write over the weekend :-)

Roger no pm ;-)

If I thought it would actually result in a 991 for a week you'd have received one in a shot

Don't you think that maybe its just that the 991 has way higher limits which you simply haven't managed to explore yet?

My experience with new models of 'sports vehicles' that are considerably better than their predecessors is that they need serious amounts of time to explore the extended capabilities. In otherwords, everything that felt slightly hairy and involving in the old model now feels controlled and fully within the new car's limits. But possibly the thrill and involvement is still there, just hiding a lot higher up the scale.
James May made an interesting point on Top Gear that modern 'sports' cars need to be driven at extremely high speeds to get the nerve tingling enjoyment that is available in lesser vehicles at far lower speeds. Personally I don't agree that its fun to drive a poor handling car on the limit, but the point with the 991 is that the limits have been moved and judging by what I read, by a large margin.
I'm looking forward to reading your more extensive write-up. Cheers!

I do see where you are coming from and you may be right, you can drive it much faster on the same roads and maybe that's what I am not sure of. There is no doubt that it's way more refined as I took it to Bristol today and it was really good much quieter, less road and wind noise.

Will try and get pics uploaded

It's my dealer Peter, I think the family thing helps but it's really to help the sales guy as my work is a good place to park it.
