Want to buy a turbo upgrade
So itself a birthday present to myself I am interested in buying a turbo upgrade for my car. I would like the kit to cost 3k or less...
Are there any new options on the horizon I should hold out for? If RB was readily available and was at their intro price point I would be all in. What are my options? TIA |

single turbo kit wont be over 5,000 well atleast it shouldnt.. all it should be is custom fab on turbo mani and so forth ... but the tuning software you can buy separate which would be a good idea..

Lol yeah I'm sure it's gonna be under 5k to get a single installed. Where do people get this stuff?

Don't need a loan to get a single. I like quick spool up and really would be happy with 500whp. My car is a daily driver and it is only speculation at this point how reliable the big singles will be.
So no good alternatives to RB? |

Alternatives in the price range you're looking for, none that I know...I think RBs are the way to go for a nice 450-470whp on pump gas (depending on your baseline) and 500-520whp on meth with RBs...at least this is what's been shown so far with RBs and dynos but there "may" be a bit more in them down the road with some changes to plumbing

You will not find a full twin upgrade for a better price - there are a few upgrades around with clipped compressor wheels, but RB is the only one offering both wheels upgraded plus an improved wastegate assembly. Quote:
Also, I do know that right now Rob Beck has several sets available that would be ready for shipment (five I believe). No better time to get these if you ask me. Alpina_B3_Lux

Last I saw on 2/12, RB's were in stock. 8 sets open that could ship in about the next 7-10 days. Your screen name is 135 but the description says you drive a 335. I think there is a few hundred $ difference for 135, either in the overall cost or the core cost.

I guess by the time single turbo's become mainstream, Cobb will have released AR and you could just get a tuning shop to tune in for a single turbo?

Because if they screw it up, there's always some recourse. Screw it up yourself and you have nobody else to blame or cover the cost of making it right. If I were going to do an upgrade like this, I'd want it done in a professional shop with a lift and the correct tools, plus some demonstrative certifications/expertise. Changing your plugs is one thing; putting in a completely redesigned turbo system and expecting everything to work right is quite another.

I couldnt agree more. It not like your replacing cams/pistons/rods/bearings here people(although those mods are easy as well). A turbo kit is a bolt on.

I agree with anything that is going to be making extreme HP gains and possibly blowing up motor's that I would rather have a shop do it. Also a lot of people do not have a shop or a place where I can park the car and work on it that is covered and clean from dirt or rain. |

...Which requires about 14 hours for the inexperienced, dropping the front subframe, tilting the engine out of the way, minimal space to work with and a bunch of specialty tools I'm sure the average person doesn't have. At the very least I'd want a lift and would have to rent an engine hoist. For that price, I'd find a local trusting indy.
