07 335i A/T transmission issue

A few days ago I noticed when going from a stop to 3rd gear slowly, the car hesitates to go into each gear and the gear changes are rough. This does not happen all the time. The car is completely stock with almost 49,000 miles. Any idea what the problem might be? I don't want to bring it to the dealer and have them charge me an insane amount just to look at it.

If youre out of warranty, you owe it to yourself to get a br cable, it will show codes that come up before te problem becomes serious enough to throw a cel

The car was purchased certified pre owned in November of 2010. Do you know if it would be something covered under the extended warranty? Thanks for the quick response.
