Nah pointless. The first one is still a good machine. I've got a transformer and it does everything fast enough for me.

I've got a 1st Gen 16gb iPad, and I'm actually more tempted to trade up to the iPad 2 now they've reduced the price.
Looking on ebay I reckon I would get between £185 to £200 for mine, and Apple are now selling the iPad 2 16gb wifi for £329.... |

What's new on the new one. I've promised myself one but haven't had chance to trawl the internet and missed all the announcements yesterday. An ipad2 sounds tempting if the new one isn't all that.
Anyone fancy summarising??? Yes, I'm being lazy...

It is also:
At 0.37 inches and 1.44 pounds, the new tablet is slightly thicker and heavier than the previous iPad 2 version Doesnt that take it back to the orignal iPad size Saying that, retina display and quad-core are good I am sure BUT, it just proves that upgrading to the next version of of Apple stuff inst really worth it. (its best to skip a generation or two) It also shows, that tablet tech is pretty much there - no more real innovation. until we get textured screens: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...-senseg-haptic

...so for someone without an ipad at all, should it be 2 or 3???
(even though it'll go through work, I've got half an eye on costs, as I'll be getting 2) |

If you're going to use it mainly for work i would just go with the normal ipad 2 and save the £70 difference.

Yea for all the difference in cost I would go for the new one. However you may find over the next couple of months they need to reduce the price of the Ipad2 to shift remaining stocks, that is when it may make sense to buy the Ipad2.

tweaked current processor not a new processor. Dual core with quad core GPU chip.
No Siri. Bit of a disappointment really, I wont be upgrading and will stick with my Ipad 1 (so with "New IPad" how soon before mine becomes IPad "classic"?) |

I've an iPad 2 and will wait until a massive updated iPad is released before I upgrade.
Was like the last iPhone option. I was really expecting an awesome iPhone 5 to be released and what a disappointment for iPhone 4 users when the '4s' was released instead. Apple are very clever as they know if they give a unit a minor update loads will upgrade to it. |

Maybe its just very clever marketing to rocket the sales of the iPad 2 given the discount that's now on offer.
However, we may change our views once we actually get to see this new screen in the flesh. |

The 4G add on is useless in the UK only aimed at the US and Asia markets where they have 4G network up and running.

Seems like a minor upgrade.
iPad 2 still great and now even cheaper. I will be waiting for the next one before upgrading. Think the iPhone 5 and iPad 4 will be the launches to wait for. |

Slowly think Apple are losing the sparkle they once had. And I'm an huge apple fan (with a home mac tower, macbook pro and iPhone 4s).
Seems they have lost that 'and more last thing' surprise element - they are just doing the bare minimum or at least what people expect, nothing more. They aren't pushing the envelope anymore. |

Well all of you are sensible people and most of your will stick with ipad2.
That is mind over heart and most of the time it proves good choice. I am not different, but when it comes to gadgets, I can't avoid spending. Bought ipad2 on day one and sold in Jan for £320 (when apple confirmed about new ipad). I am defo going to order ipad3.
