Hks Ssqv4 Bov, Working Or Not? Video Inside

i dont think my bov is functioning at all, its suppose to be sucking in air then releasing it making a whistle sound...but it does nothing..can this cause alot of damage to my engine since it isnt sucking or releasing anything?

It shouldn't be sucking anything.

Typically your turbo(s) don't produce a significant load just revving so therefore the blow off valve will not "release" pressure

best way to find out is, go WOT with windows open and see if you hear the whoosh. i can hear mine even with windows closed but to be sure have windows opened that way you can hear it better

just saw the video you posted, mine does that also. people tell me you have to oil the valve if it gets stuck and you should be fine.

That's odd, when I had my 08 335i with hks ssqv 4 I could hear the BOV go off just revving it...

So it looks like the actuator is not releasing pressure, since I got this installed in a shop 5 hours from me and I have no idea how to put back my stock diverter valves in , so will leaving the hks bov installed cause damage to my engine bc it may not be releasing pressure ?

it is super easy to install your stock charge-pipe and diverter valves. remove you airbox, then just pull the metal clip up holding the charge-pipe to the throttle body, then loosen the clamp on the other end of the charge pipe and pull it off. then remove the caps where the diverter valves connect to and plug them in.

now that i think about it, did the shop cap of the connections for the DVs?

Double check to see if you connected the vacuum line. Just drive the car and you'll know. Also, I could be wrong but if you're AT then put it in N.

What happens after you release the throttle when going WOT. I dont think the new ones[hks bov] are adjustable either.

Your supposed to be hearing the BOV sound that you posted in the 2nd video.

If it wasnt hooked up correctly or not working correctly you would likely be having some drivability problems, hesitation, bad idle, and or bucking. Along with plenty of codes, like over-boosting if it was stuck closed, I would imagine. or under-boosting if it releasing pressure to soon.

I have to check after I go home I'll go WOT and see if I hear anything

but I have no drive ability issues , no bad idle , I don't know what bucking is lol, but I have no warming lights on the dash

But will any warning lights come up in the dash if there's a boost leak Or under boosting ??

Best bet is to get a bav tool to see if I'm throwing codes??

You dont even need to go WOT, just give it some boost and let off the gas, it should release pressure and you should hear it. You would throw codes and CEL for anything on this car, its German

But what I don't under stand is the dude in the 2 nd video I posted he was in PARK and revving his engine and you can clearly hear his hks bov making a whistle sound

When I'm in park and rev I don't hear shit lol
If my bov is indeed not working will it cause damage to my car bc it's not releasing pressure ?

Check that C-Clip if it's locked in cause you might have boost leak from it being loose. Next try putting your car in N and then try revving it (just a thought)

but the ppl who installed my hks bov said since I'm on stock boost and have the stock air box that it muffles the sound..

When I rev my engine in my garage I can here a pshhh sound when I let go of the gas

Since you have a tune and intakes etc maybe it makes the bov louder? Do you have the hks ssqv4 bov?
