6FL iPod & Kbps

I read the other posts on this topic, but am still a little confused. The way I interpret the BMW flyer on the 6FL is that the max Kbps for flash drives is 256. A flash drive requires the car to process the MP3, so it makes sense that there would be a limit (although it is a bit lame). BUT, my understanding of an iPod connection to the 6FL is that the USB cable is just used to control the iPod, but the iPod does the processing and sends the audio into the AUX jack next to the USB connector.

My car is on a boat right now (probably 2nd week of July pickup), so I can't test this myself yet.

So...my question is. Has anyone tested >256 Kbps songs on an iPod connected using 6FL?

Thanks!
