so i finally did it...no thanks to you guys

haha j/k. first time posting here... i was set on buying the IS350 but you guys made the 330 sound so good...i just had to do it. just put down a deposit for a:

330i
Jet black / black
comfort access
Park distance
Nav
ZPP
ZSP

oh by the way, since this will be my first BMW i thought id do it right and go with european delivery! i wont get a set ED date until monday but hopefully my date will be JAN 9th. (my bday is the 17th, so its a nice gift to myself ) man, coming from the honda camp (96 prelude VTEC) i thought i was going to have to battle for days to get the pricing right, but i sent a couple of emails out and no haggling at all. maybe the haggling part comes later...but i had to ask the guy three times to make sure we had an agreement for $750 over ED invoice (the process seemed too good to be true). if all goes smooth Bill Briody at Savage BMW in Ontario, CA is my new hero. My fam has purchase a number of cars and this is by far the eaiest ive had to order a car. in and out within 30 mins minus the test drive.
couple of concerns though...first im a rookie traveler and im a lil bit nervous about traveling to germany, so any advise would be nice (yes ill do a serch also)...and second i have the sport package which come with the performace tires...ummm performace tires in a RWD car, in the snow, doesnt sound too good... so what should i do?...is there a tow/trucking comapny that will do the drive to the port for me? im not really planning to drive the car at all...i know itll be a shame with the autobahn right there but itll be worse if i crash it. im actually planning to travel by train and take in the sights. sorry for the long post but im very excited and the wait...god its only been hours but it seems like a lifetime already thanks guys for a great site and helping me decide on this car and making this whole process easy.

You made the right decision. Coming from lude to E90 has been a pure pleasure for me. Its just so much more refined, comfortable, fun to drive and most of all, it has usable low-end torque that hondas don't really have which makes this vehicle a superb daily driver. Its all-in-one package in my opinion.

My lude(5th gen) was fun, but now it sleeps in the parking lot everyday. I almost feel bad.

Best part of ED is the driving

How much time are you going to spend in Germany and what are yout interests? If you're an outdoor type, I would hop over to Austria or Switzerland and check out the mountains. ED includes shipping to the port (either Bremen or Rotterdam IIRC). If you're more into culture, I would add Vienna to the itinerary.

You will really miss out on the best part of ED, if you don't take advantage of German or Alpine highways. Your car has been designed to handle those roads which you won't ever experience in the US and especially SoCal. In addition, German drivers are prolly the best in terms of behavior. Truck traffice can be annoying but is banned on Sundays.

Perfromance tires are terrible in snow. Think of flat leather soles on ice.

Congrats and enjoy. I just returned from my pickup (330i w/sports) last month. Drove 2,000 miles in 10 days and enjoyed every one.

OK you asked the question in more detail here than bimmerfest.com.

1.) Get your passport now if you don't have one yet. Your dealer needs to forward a copy of it to BMWNA.

2.) You can check with the ED Delivery Center, but people have paid to have someone drive the car to EH Harms, the shipping company (do a search on bimmerfest's ED forum)
Or you can just pick-up the car and drive it straight to the EH Harms office. You don't have to worry about getting the car to the actual port.

Anyways congrats again.

If I took ED, I would not be able to pass up on driving it on the Autobahn.

On the other hand, I know I would be spoiled and would probably get a couple of tickets before I could adjust to the roads back home.

It sounds like maybe you're worried about driving in the snow in Germany? Something tells me they clear the roads pretty fast -- just avoid driving right in the thick of the storm.

I had an IS300 and test drove an IS350 for a couple of hours - dealer lent me his demo.

YOU ABSOLUTELY made the better choice. The IS350 is a much faster car .. hands down .. but the 330 is just sooo much more refined.

Congrats and good luck!!

I am a lurker convert myself ... was on the fence on e90, C230, G35 Coupe, IS250 and TSX...e90post.com sold me on my 325i

Congratulations on ED...you're in for an awesome experience. Will definitely try to swing for ED for my next Bimmer.
