So, you do not have 6FL correct? If not, you can connect a usb/usb connector to the aux output and to your ipod cable. Like you said, it wont allow you to integrate the functions of the ipod, but you should be able to listen through the stereo.

I use the monster charger. It plugs into the power socket in the arm rest and you need a separate 3.5mm jack male to male to lead which connects from the line out (on the monster cable) to the aux in in the car. Your iPod charges when your car is running and the iPod is automatically turned off when you turn off the car.

Also if you have a wired remote for the iPod then what I do is dangle the end of this out of the arm rest and then close the arm rest and then I can easily play/pause and skip tracks withough having to open the arm rest and fiddle with the iPod.

you just need an AUX mini stereo male to male plug. plug it into the headphone jack of the ipod and the AUX input in the armrest. the sound quality of the headphone jack output is slightly lower than pulling the audio out of the dock connector at the bottom (which is what the monster adapter things do) but this way is cleaner and cheaper. The Ipod will not charge, but the battery should last a good long time. Just remember to turn it off when you get out of the car. I did this for years in my e39, and it was great.

+1 you should be able to find the cable at Radio shack. Or get the one from Amazon posted above. People say it sounds better.

Thanks for the tip. I was just going to use a male to male cable to connect to the aux jack. I have a CD changer and have mp3s on CDs (No iPod.). This cable is perfect for those rare occations when someone wants to plug their iPod into my car's system.
