Grinding noise when steering is turned to the max (both sides)

Normarly I wouldn't need to turn my steering to the max thus I never actually heard such noises. However, I believe I heard some noises when I turn my steering almost to the max before. So today, I finally confirmed that its giving this weird grinding noise when I turned my steering max to the right and left. This done when the car is started and idling.

After popping up the hood, pull it to the max again, I noticed the cable connecting the AC compressor rattles along with the griding noise from somewhere under. Anyone experience the same? Can someone quickly try it out and let me know?

Rattling on the cable circled. Picture taken from the strut DIY, not mine.

I get that too on my 335i, and on my Toyota Camry, and on my Mercedes. I think its a common thing to have. Still not sure as to why it happens though.

Every car with hydraulic power steering makes noise when you hold the wheel at full rotation. Unless you can describe how your noise differs from that noise, it will be hard to help. Or, if you don't know what the noise sounds like, then that might be all that you're hearing.

I had it last year. Took it into the dealer and they couldn't replicate it. I re-adjusted my steering wheel and it seemed to solve the problem.

However, it just started again last week and I re-adjusted it with the tilt and it seems ok again now.

The noise sounds like the kind of noise when the AC compressor kicks in but rougher . More of like something was rattling. Always reproducible. I will see if adjusting the steering will solve it tomorrow. Just weird...I know there's this soft humming sound from both my old Integra and TSX...this just sounded too loud.

There's a recall out for an AC line bracket. Not sure if it will solve your problem, but worth a try.
