Track days/driving clubs in Alabama?

Hi All,

Been reading some threads about people taking their cars to track days...sounds like fun but I have no idea how to find places/groups to get into this. I am in Montgomery, AL. I am not a "petrol head" as Top Gear would say, but pushing my 335 a little on a track sounds like a fun Saturday every once in a while...TIA.

It's not a track but a nice big lot to autocross. If you want to track then join the local bmwcca club to see when the next will be or contact Barbers. Let me know if you are coming to autocross.

Thx! I am not 100% sure yet but am about 75% sure I plan on attending...if even to just watch and familiarize myself with the process. I am a complete n00b to this...

Many that attend are noobs at it, myself included. You can ride with people too. Everyone is very nice and helpful and the cars are all awesome. You'll have a blast being there, guaranteed. You can register there that day and drive if you want too.

Since you are in Montgomery, there is a drag strip there. Not sure if you are interested in that kind of racing, but it is fun to do a couple runs down the track. Plenty of road course guys in Montgomery also. A buddy of mine has the lap record at Barber in IT7. He's a Montgomery guy also. If you ever get blown off the road by a red Volvo 240 wagon, that's him

I did find the drag strip via google search...less interested in that but could be fun.

I'll reveal my ignorance...I presume Barber is a racetrack and IT7 = ???.

Nope, haven't been smoked by a Volvo wagon yet...I'll standby...

Barber is an amazing track and once you go out there you will be hooked. Also Road Atlanta is one of the best tracks in the entire world and is only 3 hours away.

However, your car is a convertible so BMW CCA Southeast region will not allow it out there. There are other clubs you can join that will though. NASA, PCA, ACNA, possibly PBOC, and Chin Motorsports (look them up) do allow convertibles. All of these clubs require a membership initiation fee but that fee usually pays for a great magazine subscription.
