A few questions about BMW alarm...

For those of you who have your E9x was the BMW alarm worth it? I wanted to get it but my SA said that it was a waste of money.

Now if i get the BMW alarm it installs the alarm, motion sensor and it activates the red light turn on under the rear view mirror right?

I think the red light blinking is important for me so i know the car is locked in case i forget and glance out the window.

So all in all should i get it installed?

Im leaning more towards yes since i want more safety and the red blinking light lol

thanks i want it now.... also w/ the alarm installed does it make a beep when you lock the doors? I forgot to ask that.

Comfort access also unarms the alarm, correct?

Yes, arms and disarms with comfort access.
My SA originally told me it wouldn't even work. Then said its a waste. I guess they don't get paid for accessories. I like ti as a deterent. If anyone really wants to steal it they will.

Yes - but the E93 does NOT come with MOTION SENSORS

Yes. It's a very unique beep. I love it.
Audible confirmation on lock/unlock
and
visual confirmation on lock/unlock
can be set via the Idrive.
If you don't have Idrive, the dealer needs to set those options.

I love the alarm, feels so more reassuring when i hear the beep and the little red light! i am installing the shock sensor tongiht!

Not true anymore. I don't have iDrive, and the lock/unlock confirmation settings are accessible from one of the personalization menus.

I *think* this changed with Sept-06 production.

wow the dealer is screwing me big time.... for the install ! Bastards! They also told me that after the install they have to do some retrograde thing that could take 4-10 hours depending.... grrr

they tried that too me!
I think the best thing to do is take in for programming upgrade (free under warranty) then install it yourself, then pay them for .5hr labor to do the alarm programing

Well its too late to do that.. =( I just got a call they are keeping my car till tomorrow since the programming is taking longer than expected.. (BS!!)
