Is There a 6FL Retrofit Kit?
I want one, and I want to install it.
Where do I get it?

You can pick one up at your nearest BMW dealer. It comes beautifully wrapped in a brand new car...

LEDZEP is bitter cause he owns two BMWs just for that reason... he bought the second BMW cause he forget to check off one of the option boxes on the first BMW. LEDZEP will never admit to this and will continue to say he bought the second BMW for various other reasons.

6FL was not an option when I bought my first E90 in May 2005, nor was it an option when I bought the E91 in September of 2005. Perhaps I did buy the new E90 just for the 6FL.... perhaps for other reasons.
Before you make smart assed posts, perhaps you should do some research. And perhaps those who keep asking if they can retrofit 6FL should also do a search of this forum, as this topic has been covered extensively. Congrats 'toughluck', and welcome to my ignore list. Dimwit.

Duh, it is common knowledge that the 6FL was not an option until just recently.
But I have to say I have seen your many negative comments to others on this board about 'you should have thought this option first before buying this car' People makes mistakes, why do you have to make them feel any more worse? All I am saying is you probably did buy your second BMW cause of other reasons besides the 6FL, perhaps a different option or color, wagon (I do not know...). You were freaking out about getting a OEM BMW bra a while back, you made it such a HUGE deal.

I still like the ipod and it works great without the 6FL, but one of the things that I found while searching that I really do like is the fact that the ipod turns off when the car is turned off. Is there something that I can get for my ipod that makes it automaticaly turn off when I turn off my car? Sorry for the newbie ipod questions, but i just started using an ipod for the first time 2 weeks ago.

That being said, I've also seen car adapters for ipod (of the charge + line-out variety) that pause the ipod when power goes away and un-pause it when it resumes. That'd be just the ticket for use with our switched 12V sockets. |

NAand TT,
Try keeping your remarks to youyrself. LEDZEP has contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to this post and especially to the various 6fl threads. He has helped many of us understand the 6fl option and provided many important tips related to making sure that we got what we paid for (i.e. the Y cable etc.). Until you contribute a third of what he has try keeping your snotty remarks that add nothing to the forum to yourself unless, of course, you have something worthwhile to say !! Now - I finally did it. Just continue tyo get these people that think the sole purpose of this forum is to respond when they have nothing of value to say or just bad mouth people.

As I have stated in other threads, the MOST iPod integration solution has a limitation where it can only show 500 in a certain view.
CD1 is default, and this one shows all the playlists. This one is fast, but it plays the first song in the first playlist automatically when you activate the iPod. CD2 is the view for Artists. When I switch to CD2 to view Artists, it takes minutes... and I did say minutes... to return the artist listing back to the iDrive screen. Furthemore, it will only display the first 500, so mine shows A thru L. If you drill into an artist, then back out, it will go back to A. Please remember that each click turn on the iDrive knob advances 1, so to get to the bottom, that is 500 clicks. Others aren't so bad (i.e. genre).
