Best Wax or Polish for the glossy look?

Hi,

I used Zaino and it does not have enough of the glossy look I want. Can some one sugguest a protect that will give it a better glossy look? Also, do I have to remove Zaino with dawn first? thanks.

I'm not sure if you can get more gloss than Zaino. I have a TiAg 330 and like the look I'm getting from Mothers Synwax FX wax followed by the FX spray wax every other wash. Nice and glossy (actually more like shiny) but not like plastic. You might want to try a carnauba product or Mothers Reflections if you want a "deeper" look, this might be more of what you connsider gloss. I find that FX makes the car look lighter and shiny whereas Reflections is more of a grey/wet look.

Dreamwonder - how many coats of zaino have you used so far. if you've only put on 1-2 it wont really do all that much. right now i have about 6 coats on my car and i really see a difference. by the time winter comes i plan on having about 8-10 coats. It gives an AWESOME shine and a really glossy look. Silver also wont look as glossy as lets say a black car anyways. i think that a black car would look more glossy even when its not even that well taken care of Vs. a silver car.

How are you applying Zaino? I have a silver e90xi with 3 coats and it's real shinny. Are you using z-6 or z-8?

I s anyone using Z-8??
Is Z-8 a replacement for Z-6??

I'm almost out of Z-6 and I'm wondering if I should get Z8 instead.

Z6 is not a replacement for the Z8. I use Z6 between coats of Z2 with zfx and as a general spot cleaner. I use the Z8 as a final finishing spray from either washing or polishing.

Z-8 can be used as a replacement. They say it right on their website. It just costs more. But it can be used as HRC's comments also. Z-8 smells soooo good.

I am using Z2 with zfx. Did Dawn wash, detailed prep work, then 3 coats. I see some black 330i 06 around my area that has this awesome shine/gloss to it. I kind of want that look too. (I have a silver colored 330i.)

That's the thing with light color cars. You will never get that kind of gloss out of a silver car. On the other hand, a silver car is much easier to keep looking good. Black looks incredible when properly polished but it will show every little imperfection if not.

It is actual clay that comes in a kit with Quick Detailer as a lubricant. You wet the paint with QD and gently rub the clay over the paint to remove impurities on the paint. It will give you a smoother finish. You don't have to do it but it may help the finish look better. You can get it at Advance Auto or Pep Boys.

For a full detail, I generally:

Wash
Clay
Wash
Dry
Swirl removal/Polish (Poorboy's)
Polish (Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant)
Wax (Pinnacle Souveran)

When it gets done, it looks incredible. One coat of wax is all you need. Polish adds a nice deep shine while covering some imperfections, and a good carnuba wax will bring out the depth of black or red.

Reflection out of the paint:

I still don't understand the point of applying as many as 8-10 coats of wax. I used Klasse All In One and Sealant Glaze. I spent no more than 90 minutes from start to finish (wash, dry, AIO, SG, then tire dressing).

This picture was taken just over a month after waxing. The best part is that I won't need to wax again until around May 2006.

It is a little extreme to put 8-10 coats of wax on. Zaino only recomends 2-3 coats in one day with ZFX and it will have a guaranted 6 months protection for normal/everyday cars and 9 months for show cars. I'm not sure about others on this forum but I am very anal when it comes to keeping my car clean (OCD) I am very appericiative that I can even own such a nice car and all I want is to keep it nice....

The more coats of Zaino you put on, the deeper the shine. Either that or it is a great way to get you to use more product

The first pic is my M Roadster with about 6 coats, the second is my E90 with 3 coats. The M Roadster has 48,000 km, the E90 has 13,000km. There are zero swirls on the E90 thanks to Zaino Fusion. Use sparingly as it is an abrasive but man does it work. I use Z2 and Z5 with Z6 between. I clay bar the cars whenever the paint begins to feel rough. Smooth as glass right now.

If it isn't glossy enough...

Best for shine? Any good polish done correctly to brighten up the paint + P21s Carnauba Wax, Carnauba Wax gives incredibly nice look but won't last.
