IS Bluetooth active on cars without Premium Package

Don't have the car yet, it's at the port awaiting shippment.
My wife and I are the only ones going to be driving the car and we don't need all the electronic extras on the Premium Package so we passed. The Bluetooth would be nice with the cell phone for hands free. Is this active in cars without the Premium Package? Can it be activated if not? I think the standard steering wheel has the phone symbol on it.

nope, if you didn't get premium pack you would have had to add the 750-800 bmw assist option (still a better value than prem pack to me)

No, you have to have Premium or BMW Assist. Then you get a bluetooth system that SOMETIMES works.

Sometimes works? Mines worked flawlessly everything. Connects with no issues. Even connects when i'm on the phone already and start the car, seemless transition. I picked mine up on 09/27/2005 about 1 day after it arrived.

In Canada, even I have my premium but no bluetooth with it !
It's sad though!!
