Kosei K3

Can anyone comment on these as dedicated track wheels? They're 20.4 lbs so not the lightest but I want 18x8.5" wheels with 245s all around and don't want to pony up for the SSR Comps. Tirerack is closing them out at $229 each. Any thoughts?

It's a good choice. Search for the track wheel thread. It has most of the options listed including this wheel. I like the K3 and the price is right. I have the NT03+M's in 18x8.5 at all four corners with 245 40 18 NT-01's and they fit great with lots of room to spare at the fenders. The Kosei's have a more agressive offset for the front fitment, but should work with 245's. I don't know about 255's though.

Why not get the 17x8.5 K1's for $165? On the track, the extra inch in wheel diameter is only making your tires more expensive. Function over form. My K1's just came in. At 16.8 lbs / wheel, you can't beat them.

Thanks for the input guys. Toddphilly - I considered the K1 first but I want to run the Toyo 888 because of the stiffer sidewalls that seem to hold up well at tracks like Willow Springs (kills left front). The only 17" size is a 235 and I want to run a little more contact patch than that.

I can't remember, did someone fit a K1 or K3 in 17" on the 335i and clear the larger brakes?

Garage List
with me potentially going up to 365mm rotors..the 17s are NOT an option.

K1's will fit over the brakes on a 335i coupe.

Fair enough. In that case, I'm sure you will be happy with the K3's. Kosei makes a pretty damn good wheel for the $. I can't speak for longevity of my K1's, but I've heard they are as durable (hopefully better) than the SSR's. Good luck & have fun!
